23-time GS Champion, Serena Williams is now a mother of two as she gave birth to her second daughter, Adira River Ohanian. The former tennis ace and her husband Alexis Ohanian welcomed their first daughter Olympia five years ago. The couple married in 2017.
Williams revealed her second pregnancy at the star-studded stage of 2023 Meta Gala in May and after two months on Aug 22, she and her husband confirmed the newest member of the family. The former tennis pro never shied away from glitter and glamour but it was a purely familiar affair celebrate with unadulterated joy this time around.
The WTA legend announced the news in a heartwarming TikTok video, captioning: “Welcoming my beautiful angel.” The brevity of expression only emphasized the profound joy felt by the family.
Meanwhile, the US Open and WTA along with the tennis fraternity congratulated the former star through their social media accounts.
Treating her partner’s fans and followers with the intimate glimpse of touching moment, Serena’s Partner Alexis Ohanian shared a message and some family pictures via his X (twitter) account about the arrival of a newcomer:
“Welcome, Adira River Ohanian. I’m grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful,” wrote Ohanian on X (Twitter).

The American welcomed her first daughter in September 2017 and later revealed in a piece written for CNN that she almost touched the death after conceiving her first child.
“I almost died after giving birth to my daughter, Olympia. Yet I consider myself fortunate. While I had a pretty easy pregnancy, my daughter was born by emergency C-section after her heart rate dropped dramatically during contractions,” said the American.
“The surgery went smoothly. Before I knew it, Olympia was in my arms. It was the most amazing feeling I’ve ever experienced in my life. But what followed just 24 hours after giving birth were six days of uncertainty.
“It began with a pulmonary embolism, which is a condition in which one or more arteries in the lungs becomes blocked by a blood clot. Because of my medical history with this problem, I live in fear of this situation.
“So, when I fell short of breath, I didn’t wait a second to alert the nurses. This sparked a slew of health complications that I am lucky to have survived.”
Williams, 41 retired from the sport in September last year at the US Open, She won her final major title at the Melbourne Park in 2017 while pregnant.
