Carlos Alcaraz predicts his retirement year

Carlos Alcaraz has recently shared some fascinating insights about his future in tennis and beyond, giving fans a glimpse of his long-term aspirations both on and off the court. The 21-year-old Spanish tennis sensation revealed his retirement plans, as well as his hopes for his personal life, including the number of children he wishes to have and the identity of his future wife.

Alcaraz showcased his skills on Wednesday at the Garden Cup, an exhibition event at Madison Square Garden in New York City, where he defeated Ben Shelton. Reflecting on his performance in an on-court interview, Alcaraz explained his philosophy on playing: “Well, I always say that I’m trying to make the people enjoy watching tennis. I just try to put the best of myself on court, try to play great shots, great points,” he shared. He added, “When I’m playing against Ben it’s even easier doing it because the vibes, the game he has is unbelievable as well. But yeah, I hope the people enjoyed the match. That’s what I try to do every time.”

Looking ahead, Alcaraz will face Frances Tiafoe in the Charlotte Invitational exhibition on Friday. But it was during a recent video posted on Daniel Fernandez’s Instagram that Alcaraz opened up about his future. In a fun twist, Fernandez, a magician and content creator, asked Alcaraz a series of questions about his life and career, handing him a piece of paper that seemed to predict his answers.

When asked about the year of his last Grand Slam appearance, Alcaraz revealed his long-term vision, stating, “It’s 2024, I’m 21, 2037? 2034 or 2035. No, I’ll change it. 2037! Yes, that’s the last one. Because the true greats play a long time, I want to reach the peak and be 35, still fighting.” As for which Grand Slam would host his final appearance, Alcaraz confidently chose Wimbledon: “Wimbledon.”

The conversation then turned to his personal life. When asked about his potential family, Alcaraz shared, “Hopefully, three,” when discussing the number of children he hopes to have. He was also asked to envision his future wife, to which he replied, “I’m not sure, I will say… Maria.”

Alcaraz’s career continues to soar as he racks up impressive titles, including two Wimbledon championships in 2023 and 2024, the 2022 US Open, and the 2023 French Open. As he looks toward the future, the young star is focused on cementing his place among the all-time greats of tennis while balancing his personal dreams as well.
