Carlos Alcaraz talks about the tournament that makes him feel at home

Carlos Alcaraz is on path to become only the 8th man to complete the sunshine double and the world #1 has spoken about where he feels ‘at home’ on the tour.

Currently contesting to stay ahead of Novak Djokovic at the top of the rankings, Alcaraz will need to defend the Floridian Masters title to retain the #1 spot.

However, the Spaniard feel very positive about his chances at Miami, “I feel at home here. It’s easy to play for me in Miami with all the energy I receive from the crowd, it’s amazing.”

He continued, “I enjoy it and I think that’s the key why I play at such a high level for every match. I’m really happy with the level I’m playing and hope to keep going.”

The US Open winner is into the Miami Open quarterfinals for the second consecutive year after edging past this year AO semifinalist Tommy Paul for his maiden win against the American.

Paul had developed a repute of being a Spanish slayer on the tour by beating all of his 12 Spaniard opponents including as bigger foes as Nadal (Mexican Open 2022) and Alcaraz, but was unable to repeat the same feat and took a straight set loss against the 19-year old in their R16 match.

A red hot Alcaraz on the court appeared pleased and satisfied with his performance in his post-match appearance, “I played a really great match and hope to play the same level in the quarter-finals. I moved well, defended very well and attacked as well. If I play the same level I’m going to have a lot of chances to get through the quarter-finals.”

Hoping to take his form into the next match against another American Taylor Fritz in night session later today for a maiden meeting, Alcaraz looks in great shape to extend his dominance and defiance and winning streak at Miami.
